Citizens For Safer Streets

How You Can Help

Do you want to get the word out about better alternatives to photo enforcement? Do you have a program in your town that is abusing it's citizens? This is a short list of things you can do to get started. Please contact us if you need more help.

GET INFORMED!

The first step to battling any problem is knowing as much as you can. You need to thoroughly understand the local and state laws that govern photo enforcement in your town and your state. For Texas the law governing photo enforcement is Texas Transportation code 707. You can see the text of it HERE There are certain requirements cities must follow if they choose to use photo enforcement cameras. Most cities violate the law in some way. Many will have illegally short yellow change intervals or will not have conducted engineering surveys or done the proper reporting.

You can keep up with other organizations around the country that have plenty of background information and research available for you. You can find the reports that show photo enforcement doesn't work as well as proven alternatives to photo enforcement. Visit these websites below frequently.
